Leadership Lessons From Mom eBook Mark Villareal

An interesting book that discusses qualities of leadership by correlating them with lessons that the author learned from his mother. The author begins the book in early childhood when his mother guided him to listen to the little voice in his head whenever he needed to decide whether something was right or wrong. She taught him not to be a loner, and to push himself to become involved. Villareal explains how his mother encouraged him to dream big and reach for the top while teaching him to understand not everyone will get the trophy. As he grew older, she taught him not to exclude others, be a good example, and avoid taking shortcuts to success. The author learned to stand up for himself when he believed that he was right, but to learn the difference between having pride and being too full of pride. Life will not always be convenient and be accommodating, we must learn to accept defeat graciously at times, then pick ourselves up to try harder next time.

These are all valuable lessons in developing leadership. Rather than learning these skills by reading a leadership training manual, Villareal tells a charming story that entertains and inspires. Unfortunately, not all children grow up in an environment with parents who make the effort to teach and model these values. Recommended for young adult and adult audiences.

Leadership Lessons From Mom eBook Mark Villareal Reviews

As you plan to do tomorrow, you would accomplish a lot. I love that! Wise words from the author's mom. Many good things to think about and apply to my life.
An inspiring read. One of things that will resonate with any reader is that authentic truth that lives below everyone of the stories and lessons. It resonates because they are the things that we have always known to be true yet ,from time to time, question. It is told in an engaging and captivating narrative. Mark shows us through the lessons that there is always a perspective that we may have overlooked, and always a mom that we can learn from even if it is not our own. Great read!
Wonderful insight of how a child's character is influenced by their mothers and how those children become the next leaders.

The author does a fabulous job correlating the lessons to everyday leadership. Great read!
This book is an excellent read. The way Mark relates the life's lessons that he learned from his mother and how to apply those lessons to business and work ethic really struck a nerve. I could relate to each lesson and business application as my mother had the same approach to teaching me and my brother how to survive life and be successful in business and life as well. I totally recommend this book! I believe that each person who reads this will find that they can apply the wisdom imparted to them by there parents to business. The life skills that Mark's mother taught him apply to anyone who want to be successful in business or just life in general. If you decide to purchase and read this book it will change your perspective on what to do to be successful in both life and your chosen profession.
Mark Villareal has done an amazing job. I read his previous book, Shortcuts Get You Lost!, and learned so much towards being a successful business person. This second book, however, is even better! In honor of the life lessons his mother so lovingly taught him, he has correlated them to business. Such simple childhood-adulthood truths are expanded to provide a deeper insight to our career choices and how those lessons can further our success as adults.
Sometimes lessons in leadership are much too complicated. At the end of the day, we all have that little voice that tells us how to be a leader--it's whether or not we cultivate and listen to that voice. Mark Villareal does a great job of taking experiences many of us had as children and directly applying them in lessons on how to be a great leader in whatever you do. The anecdotes and stories that the author weaves through the book make it such an easy and entertaining read while applying those stories for great leadership lessons. Great book!!
I love how the author used his mother's actual method of teaching him with leadership. I have read many books on instilling these types of lessons into our children, but I feel like this book invited me to walk along side a Mother doing a great job at teaching her children values and principals for a successful life. I will definitely re-read this book many times! Many nuggets of wisdom that can be kept on index cards or post-it notes to help any mother struggling to teach her kids how to be the best adult they can ever be. I recommend this to any parent looking for an honest example of how to instill wisdom into their children. Since the book illustrates leadership throughout the author's life, this book is great for anyone who is struggling to become a great leader at any age or stage.
